Mold remediation in Fairfield

Fairfield sits west of Gettysburg where nights run cooler. That temperature swing shows up as attic condensation and as wet windows in houses that are heated hard and humidified all winter. The mold complaints we hear here are often seasonal: sheathing in late winter, basements in August, and a musty room over a crawl in the shoulder seasons.

Attics that sweat

A roof deck that grows a gray haze every March is usually moist house air, not a mysterious mold in the wind. We clean the wood if it is colonized and then point at the fan, the hatch, or the humidity setting on the furnace.

Ice on the eaves still happens here. If staining is at the lower edge of the roof, look at dams and ventilation together.

Walk-out basements

The downhill wall of a walk-out takes soil pressure and surface water. Finished rooms on that wall fail first. We meter that wall before we talk about the rest of the basement.

Local notes

  • Cooler roof decks plus indoor humidity is the attic pattern. Check bath fans before you blame the shingles.
  • Window condensation in January is a humidity problem, not a glass emergency — until it rots the stool and grows a sill colony.
  • Mountain-side grading can send spring water at a walk-out basement.
