HVAC Mold Cleaning in Gettysburg
If the basement is damp and the air handler sits in it, the house is sharing that air. Older Adams County systems often have fiberboard returns, panned joist returns, and a coil that never quite dries in August. Cleaning a single vent cover does not fix that. Neither does a 'sanitizing fog' blown through dirty ducts.
What should be cleaned, and what should be replaced
Metal duct that is dusty can usually be cleaned. Porous fiberglass liner that is mold-colonized generally cannot — the liner is the food, and brushing it throws debris downstream. Flex duct that held standing water should be replaced, not washed. The blower cabinet, drain pan, and coil are the usual center of growth because they are wet by design whenever the air conditioner runs.
We coordinate with your HVAC contractor when the coil needs a technician's cleaning or the drain is clogged. Our scope is the contamination and the containment, not a refrigerant repair. If the only problem is a dirty filter and a dusty trunk, we will say so and you can spend less.

A clean coil in a 70 percent humidity basement will film over again. The lasting fix is a dry mechanical room: dehumidifier, a drain that actually drains, and returns that are not sucking from a wet crawl. Filters get changed. The fan set to 'on' all day in a damp house just stirs the basement. 'Auto' is usually the better mold strategy until the space is dry.
After cleaning we can sample a supply register if you want a before-and-after comparison. It is optional. Your nose when the system cycles is a surprisingly honest gauge once the cabinet is actually clean.
