What should I do in the first 24 hours after water damage?

Stop the water if you can do it safely, keep electricity away from standing water, and extract clean water. Photograph the scene. Move papers and electronics. Do not bleach the drywall and do not run the furnace fan if the return is in the wet room.

Call during open hours so drying starts before the 48-hour mold window. If the leak is Sunday, stabilize it and we pick up the next open hour. Sewage means stay out.
