Window Condensation in January Gettysburg Homes
Single-pane and even some newer windows in Gettysburg run with water on a January morning. The glass is cold. The indoor air is wetter than the house can tolerate. Condensation itself is not mold. The black film on the sill a month later is.

A normal cold morning
A little water on the glass that dries by noon, with dry wood, is a humidity and temperature picture. Lower the humidifier, run the bath fan longer, and crack a strategy that lets moisture out without freezing the pipes. You do not need a mold company for a foggy pane.
Heavy curtains that keep the glass in a cold pocket can make the puddle worse. If the stool is wet every day, pull the curtain off that window and see if the pattern changes.
When the wood joins in
If the sill is stained, soft, or speckled, the condensation has been feeding a colony. Small areas on hard wood can be cleaned and dried if the wood is sound. Soft wood gets cut back to sound material. Then you still have to change the humidity or you will repair the same sill again.
A whole window full of black growth, with a wall below that meters wet, is past a vinegar wipe. That is a small contained cleanup plus a look at flashing, because not every wet window is only condensation. Some are leaks that only show when wind drives rain.
- Foggy glass is a humidity signal, not a verdict.
- Soft, speckled sills need more than a wipe.
- Some wet windows are leaks, not just cold glass.
