Gettysburg Rental Turnovers and Hidden Mold
Turnover week is a terrible time to discover a closet colony, and it is when we get the call anyway. Student and professional rentals near the College sit on the same stone as the rest of town, with more showers and less attention to a dehumidifier bucket.

Walk it in May
Smell the basement unit, the utility closet, and the attic hatch before you order paint. Look behind furniture outlines on exterior walls. Ask the outgoing tenant, in writing, whether any leak happened. You will not always get an answer. Ask anyway.
A dehumidifier unplugged because it was noisy is not a character flaw you can paint over. If the lower level needs one, hard-wire the expectation into the lease and drain the machine to a sump so nobody has to empty it.
Scheduling the work
Tell us the move-in date on the first call. Some scopes can finish and dry with days to spare. A wet stone wall cannot be forced into a Saturday paint slot. We would rather disappoint you in May than on August 15.
Our rental notes separate building moisture from how the unit was used, so you can talk to an owner or a tenant without handing them a horror story.
- Inspect in May, not on paint day.
- Drain the dehumidifier so it does not depend on a tenant.
- Drying time is not negotiable against a lease date.
