Is mold testing worth it?

It is worth it when you cannot see growth, when a buyer and seller disagree, when a tenant needs documentation, or when you want a clearance comparison after the work. It is usually not worth it when you can already see mold on a wet wall and you know which pipe failed. Spend that money on stopping the water and removing the material.

A useful test includes an outdoor control and a written next step. A cassette with no control and no recommendation is a souvenir. Standalone testing in this area is typically $250–$450.
